INEE CAPSTONE PROJECT AUTHORS Laura Blazer , a senior in the College of Communications, hails from Delafield, Wisconsin. She is graduating in May with an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations and an Interdisciplinary Minor in Environmental Ethics. Laura has a strong passion for environmental issues, especially those relating to animals. She has been an active volunteer at the Milwaukee County Zoo for more than a year. Upon graduation, she will enter the marine mammal training field with the aim of educating people of all ages about animals and conservation. Her goal is to foster understanding, respect and care for all of God's creatures. Megan Cain is a junior in the College of Arts and Science with majors in Biology and in Urban and Environmental Affairs and a minor in Environmental Ethics. She has served in several volunteer capacities including hunger and environmental clean-up projects at Marquette and projects at the Urban Ecology Center. After graduation, she plans to seek a masters degree in conservation studies. Her hometown is Mequon, Wisconsin. Anna Chapin , a senior in the College of Arts Sciences, will be graduating in May with a major in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and minors in Theology and Environmental Ethics. Highly respected for her commitment to justice in the world, she works as a volunteer in the Milwaukee area serving the hungry and homeless. This summer she will begin a two-year stint as a Jesuit Alumni Volunteer at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago. Danville, Indiana is her hometown. Lindsay Leiterman will be graduating from the College of Arts and Sciences in May with degrees in Biology and in Urban and Environmental Affairs. She has studied sea turtle biology and conservation, as well as conservation and biology policy at the Duke University Marine Laboratory in Beaufort, North Carolina. In the Fall, she will begin work on a Masters of Environmental Management in Resource Ecology at Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences. She interned for two years at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens and currently serves as an Intern for The Conservation Fund's Milwaukee Field Office. She hails from Green Bay, Wisconsin. Joseph Pedersen is a junior in the College of Business Administration with majors in Marketing and Finance and a minor in Environmental Ethics. He serves as a volunteer in Discovery World of Milwaukee's science projects for children and has lead backpacking excursions from the Appalacian mountains to the California Redwoods. After he graduates, he plans to use his knowledge and skills to educate others on the interdependence of human life, consumption patterns, and the physical environment. His family resides in Hartland, Wisconsin. Chris Petrauskis, a Civil and Environmental Engineering junior who is also seeking an interdisciplinary minor in Environmental Ethics, has a passion for addressing social and environmental justice issues because of the dismal conditions faced by starving masses in the Americas. He heads a campaign to bring Fair Trade coffee to the coffeeshops of Marquette University, will be volunteering this summer for Heifer International at an educational center focusing upon sustainable agriculture, and plans to volunteer internationally after graduation. He hopes to save the world and humankind from human abuses. Chris grew up in Marengo, Illinois. Craig Pierce is a junior Marketing major with minors in Philosophy and Environmental Ethics. From Arlington Heights, Illinois, he has held a number of leadership roles at Marquette, including student government, community service, new student orientation programs, and Service Learning. He hopes to enter the Jesuit Volunteer Corps after graduation, travel, earn a masters degree in education, and live a healthy modest life. Joseph Rowley is a graduating Honors Program senior in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Social Philosophy and English Literature with minors in Theology and Environmental Ethics. From Footville, Wisconsin, he has been a staunch volunteer with Amnesty International and Hunger Clean-up. This summer he will be a volunteer at Camp Shawnee in Appalacia and commence studies this Fall at Eden Theological Seminary with the goal of settling into a career in Christian ministry. Karin Schindel is a senior in the College of Business Administration majoring in Urban and Environmental Affairs and Business Economics and minoring in Chemistry and Environmental Ethics. She is a native of Aurora, Illinois. Andy Zychowicz, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences from Perrysburg, Ohio, will graduate in December 2003 with a major in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Environmental Ethics. His identification of proteins in the species Rhizobium Etli yielded the Gammex 2003 award for outstanding research by an undergraduate. An accomplished Marquette wrestler, Andy serves as a volunteer with several wrestling clubs in the Milwaukee area and represents Marquette Athletes Talking About Responsibility to raise awareness of the dangers of alcohol.
